A booming good time

BIRNAMWOOD (WAOW)--  It's the biggest fireworks display in the area.  And with 10 years of experience under their belt, some say it's the best.

Darrell Neuske started the Birnamwood Fireworks for his family. It was a fun way that they could spend Independence Day together, but it grew into so much more.

"We started out with $3,000 for the first show. And now thanks to generous friends and sponsors we are at $17,000 for this show."

Partnered with Specialty Fireworks, Neuske and his team kick off the event with a 21 gun salute.

"because that's what the 4th of July is all about," Neuske says.

Immediately following the salute is a stunning fireworks show, timed out to music.  Plus, there are always a couple of surprises thrown in there too.

"Fireworks are our art. The sky is our canvas," Specialty Fireworks employee Barb Schneider says.

But it takes a lot more work than you might think.

"We've been planning for months," Schneider explains.

But all that planning and experience pays off.

"I can't think anything more beautiful than fireworks," Barb says with a smile on her face.
