La Crosse - The Wisconsin Woodchucks ran into a red hot La Crosse Logger team that won their seventh straight game by a score of 12-4.
The Woodchucks got on top early in the contest as they score three runs in the second on some very nice hitting by the middle of their order. Cody Regis led off the inning with a single, and was followed by base hits by Dimitri De La Fuente, Tyler Heineman and Derek Peterson as the ‘Chucks took the lead 3-0.
But, it was all Loggers from then on. They took the lead in the third when they scored four runs on five hits, capped off by a two-run single by Andrew Knapp. They extended the lead to 5-3 in the fourth when Trevor Brown scored on an RBI-single by Dex Kjerstad.
The ‘Chucks got the game to within one run in the fifth as Danny Susdorf scored on a single by Cody Regis. Regis finished the game 2-3 with two singles, a walk, and an RBI as he stayed hot at the plate.
The Loggers scored four more in the fifth, chasing starter Nick Greene from the game. Greene pitched four plus innings, allowing nine hits and seven earned runs. The Loggers scored one more run in the sixth to make it a 10-4 game.
The Loggers tacked on two more in the eighth, but those runs would not matter as they took down the ‘Chucks 12-4. The Woodchucks finished up their seven-game road trip with a 1-6 record as they fell to 11-20 on the season, while La Crosse improved to 15-15.
