Taking the time to celebrate freedom, together

STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--  It was a fourth of July celebration like none other. People of all ages waved their flags proudly as the fourth of July parade kicked off in Stevens Point on Monday.

Parade floats ranged from the Stevens Point Fire Department to the Footloose Dance Crew.

The crowd applauded Veterans that once served our country and watched as they fired an appreciative salute.

For the most people, this holiday is more about family than anything else.

"Seeing all the people in red, white and blue and taking the time to not be busy and just be a family..it's what we are supposed to do," parade go-er Stacey Omernick said.

The parade is an annual tradition.  And with the newly renovated town square it is said to get better every year.
