2 boats collide on Wis. river, injuring 4 people

FREMONT (AP) -- Authorities in Winnebago County say two boats collided on the Wolf River, leaving one person with severe head injuries.

Emergency personnel responded Sunday about 7 p.m. to the Triangle Campground in the Town of Wolf River, just outside Fremont.

Campground owner Joseph Hall says the occupants of the two boats knew each other. He says one male driver was traveling at a high speed, did a U-turn and came back at the other boat.

He says one boat ran over the top of the other. One person was hospitalized in critical condition, while two other males and a female were in stable condition.

Deputies say they believe alcohol played a role in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
