Wilfred A. Steffanus

Wilfred A. Steffanus, 88, of Stevens Point, died early Saturday morning, July 2, 2011, at the Portage County Health Care Center.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1922, in the town of Sharon, to the late Martin and Ellen (Simonis) Steffanus. On Nov. 15, 1980, he was married to Agnes Budzinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.

Wilfred owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Sharon and later worked for Wysocki Farms. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Holy Name Society and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes of Stevens Point; step-sons, Myron (Kathy) Budzinski of Abbotsford, and Thomas Budzinski of Custer; step-grandchildren, Holly (Matthew) Kurszewski, Megan Budzinski, Adam and Erika Budzinski; sisters, Elizabeth (John) Speth of Green Bay, and Avis (Louis) Wysocki of Custer; brothers-in-law, Fred Skibba of Stevens Point, and Bill Rogers of Stevens Point; and sister-in-law, Edith Steffanus of New London.

In addition to his parents, Wilfred was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; sisters, Rose Skibba, Melanie Hielsberg and Jeanne Rogers; step-son, David Budzinski; and daughter-in-law, Heidi Budzinski.

The family thanks both Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services and the staff of the Portage County Health Care Center for their care of Wilfred.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia with the Rev. Greg Michaud officiating. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetery in Ellis. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, Stevens Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.
