Campaign spending reports due in recall elections

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- How well Democratic candidates are doing in raising money to knock off incumbent Republican state senators will come into sharper focus Tuesday.

Reports are due to the state Government Accountability Board showing money raised and spent in six state Senate districts.

The reports will also shed light on whether any of the six Republicans who are running as fake Democrats have been actively campaigning.

The state Republican Party recruited the candidates to run as Democrats in order to force a primary election next week on July 12. None of the Republican incumbents face challengers.

The incumbents are Sens. Rob Cowles of Green Bay, Alberta Darling of River Hills, Sheila Harsdorf of River Falls, Luther Olsen of Ripon, Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac and Dan Kapanke of La Crosse.
