Catching Up With Jags DE Austen Lane "Working" in Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Iola-Scandanavia's Austin Lane has found some work during the NFL lockout.  He can't go back to the Jacksonville Jaguars, so he's at the Eastbay Outlet trying to sell shoes.

"The first sale I was a little nervous, sweating a little bit, he might have been scared of me," Lane said.

But don't worry, commissions will be coming to 6-5, 274 pound defensive end.

"I think he's coming back though, he sounded pretty promising about it," he added.  "I'm going to hold him to it, or else I have his information. And go find him."

I'm not sure if his new bosses are impressed though.

"Maybe some personal grooming, maybe won't scare so many customers away," said Greg Bassinger, creative director at Eastbay.

Austen now has two jobs, but still acts like a kid in his free time.  Even going on Twitter and talking about his crush on soccer player Hope Solo and singer Taylor Swift.

"I thought maybe I had a chance, but nothing so far," Lane said.

And he knows what he's doing on Twitter.  He's consistently on ESPN's Twindex,  which rates NFL players' activity and quality of Tweets.

"When people see me, they're frightened of me, so I think Twitter is a way of showing off my personality," Lane said.

The top spot in the Twindex belongs to Packer tight end Tom Crabtree.

When Crabtree Tweeted a picture of his Super Bowl ring, Lane decided to get it on, Twitter style.

"I thought, big deal, you got a championship ring, I got my little league trophy," Lane said. "I was showing that off the whole day, I was rolling around in my grandma's Buick."
