Mino's closes their doors- local businesses feel economic woes
MERRILL (WAOW)-- Locally owned businesses are feeling the affects of the economy. Mino's Cucina Italiana closed their doors last Friday. The restaurant served italian cuisine in Wausau for nearly 20 years. Former owners Mino and Kathy Spada said the decision to close didn't come easy also admitting the economy was the main reason.
However some businesses are finding ways to survive in today's economy
For almost 40 years retail owners Sherry and Jack Kleinschmidt have had two locations in Merrill for their stores. The Guy Shop is just one block further on Main street from their women's clothing store Thelma's but last May the married couple joined both their retail stores under one roof to help save in the cost of bills. A better solution for the Kleinschmidts in the current economy.
Jack said, "Ten years ago we never thought of this but ah considering the way the economy is right now it was just a common sense move for us."
The Keinschmidts believe their move to merge both stores will lower their overhead and lead to a brighter financial future.
