Enjoying the final hours of Hodag

RHINELANDER (WAOW) --  It's a day for cowboy hats and country music. America, at it's finest.

But for some, it's a day of wet and wild fun on the slip n' slide.  Thirty thousand people come from all over for the event. Some, as far away as the East Coast.

For the Honea family, it's a tradition.

"My mom and Dad took the three of us since I was four," Jodi Honea explains.  That was 18 year ago.  And this year is one year that is very special.

Matthew Honea and his mom, Pamela, are both in the military.  Two years ago they were both deployed to Afghanistan, and missed the concert weekend.  But that doesn't mean that they didn't celebrate.

"We had a few beers," Matthew says. And Pamela agrees.

Hodag Country Music Fest wrapped up in style on Sunday with a performance by Josh Kelly.  But just because the music is over, doesn't mean the fun stops.

"Great food, great music, and most of all, great people," Matthew says.

And this tradition is one that they will continue for years to come.

"I am going to be here sixty years from now and old!" Jodi says.
