Merrill storm special to air this weekend

Posted:

MERRILL (WAOW) -- Sunday marked the three month anniversary of the tornadoes that ripped through our area, damaging homes and destroying millions of dollars worth of property in its path. This weekend, we'll take a look back at the damage done and what the community has been doing to rebuild.

We'll learn more about the technology meteorologists used to predict where the storm would go, saving lives by giving warning to people in harm's way.

"Not only do we look at the radar but we have a network of several thousand storm spotters across north-east and north-central Wisconsin who tell us what they see in their neighborhood, in their backyard," said Jeff Last, who works with the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

You'll also learn about the Doppler radar and the technology it takes to track storms. Plus, exclusive interviews about local leaders' plans for the future. Join us this Saturday afternoon at 1 PM to see "Merrill Aftermath -- A Community Rebuilds."
