Officials investigating explosion at Marshfield business

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- The search continues for clues on what sparked an explosion at a Marshfield Business. It happened just after 3:00 a.m. Monday at the Marshfield Door Systems on 4th Street. Investigators say one person was inside and escaped injury, but if the blast hadn't happened between shifts, the injury count could have been worse.

"This was a pressurized vessel explosion. Again we don't know why it occurred. There will be a full origin and cause investigation conducted by the department. I'm certain the insurance company is involved with this as well to try to determine how this occurred. I know I've been here over 29 years and I don't recall this equipment ever having such a catastrophic failure," said Marshfield Fire Chief James Schmidt.

Officials said it was a pressurized explosion and estimate more than 3 million dollars in damage.
