Willis 'Chub' D. Beversdorf, age 85, Wittenberg, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, Wausau, at his home.
He was born October 4, 1925 is Birnamwood, the son of the late Herman and Alma (Schoenick) Beversdorf. Chub was a US Navy Veteran serving during World War II as a radar operator in the south Pacific. On February 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Ruth Larzelere in Lily, Wisconsin. She survives. Chub owned and operated Beversdorf Chevrolet, Wittenberg with his family until his retirement. His family still owns the business today. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg where he held various positions. Chub was also a past member of the Wittenberg Village Board. An avid outdoors man, Chub enjoyed hunting and fishing, but trout fishing was his passion.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, their children; Richard (Mary) Beversdorf, Wittenberg, Wally (Lynn) Beversdorf, Phelps, Carl Beversdorf, Wittenberg, Bruce (Laurie) Beversdorf, Eland, Terry (Sharon) Beversdorf, Wittenberg, and Dan (Joan) Beversdorf, New Berlin, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, two sisters in infancy and two brothers; Ray & Jim.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Cliff Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg and again on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service at the church.
