MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The public gets its chance Wednesday to tell Wisconsin state lawmakers how they feel about Republicans' plans for redrawing political boundaries.
The GOP-controlled Legislature is scheduled to vote on the maps next week Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Legislature is charged with creating new maps for the congressional districts as well as legislative seats after the U.S. Census every 10 years.
Democrats have said the maps Republicans drew this year are unconstitutional and motivated by making it easier for Republicans to win.
Former Democratic U.S. Rep. Dave Obey plans to hold a news conference before the hearing to express his opposition.
