City approves rule changes to 400 Block

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- City leaders are making new changes to the popular 400 Block in downtown Wausau.

Weeks after the remodeled block's unveiling, Wausau City Council members have approved a measure making the block an official city park.

The new designation means amongst other things that visitors are now permitted to bring alcohol on the premises.  It also sets in place hours of operation like the city's other parks.

Though the 400 Block will be an official park within the City of Wausau, the rules related to dog walking will be different than those on other city property.  Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet when in the block.

Wausau's other city parks require dogs be leashed, but allows a maximum of 16 feet.

The new regulations take effect once the ordinances are published by the city.
