New tornado sirens for Merrill

MERRILL (WAOW) -- Merrill leaders propose adding new tornado sirens to make warning people even easier.

The mayor said new sirens have been in the 2011 budget all along and that the proposal is not a direct result of April's storms. According to the police chief, the updated sirens are necessary even though the ones they have are in good working condition.

"We had asked for new sirens last year in the budget process and money was set aside for it already and I guess the timing couldn't be any better," said Merrill Police Chief Ned Seubert.
