RHINELANDER (WAOW)--People packed a room in Rhinelander Thursday to support Senator Jim Holperin who is under recall. Hodags and Hot Dogs for Holperin was held by "We are Wisconsin," an organization made up of labor unions, concerned citizens and religious groups.
The group was celebrating the opening of it's new office at 315 Oneida Avenue with a community barbeque, and used the opportunity to drum up support for Holperin. Former representative Dave Obey spoke on Holperin's behalf, and community members went door to door to support the 12th District Senator who will face either Kim Simac or Bob Lussow in the General Recall Election.
"We're going to go out campaigning for Jim and we believe in what Jim did and we want to keep him in the Senate seat," said AFSCME Representative John Spiegelhoff.
The Republican primary will be held on Tuesday, and the winner of that race will face Holperin in the General Recall Election on August 16th.
