Bernice R. Weber, age 85, of Dorchester, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Colonial Center in Colby. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Dorchester. Pastor Jerome Freimuth will officiate. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
Bernice was born October 18, 1925 to Paul and Pauline (Bredow) Hoffman. She attended Silverleaf Grade School. Bernice was joined in marriage to Eldon Denzin on November 6, 1943 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Eldon passed away in 1966. Bernice married Cletus Weber on June 10, 1968 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. They owned and operated a farm in the Township of Mayville until 1988. She was a waitress for 20 years, worked at the Dorchester Co-op, a drapery and fabric store, and then K-Mart.
Bernice was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Alter Guild, making banners for church. She enjoyed making quilts, oil paintings, crafts, and flowers. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Bernice is lovingly survived by her sons: Bruce (Geanna) Denzin of Athens, and Gary Weber of Dorchester; her grandchildren: Bryan Denzin, Elizabeth Weber, and Dori Weber; step-grandchildren: Jessica Skrypek and Adam Skrypek; and great-granddaughter, Melanie Skrypek. She is further survived by her sister Ellen Stoughton of Athens, and her brother, Alfred Hoffman of Stratford.
Bernice is preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon Denzin, her second husband, Cletus Weber, her brothers: Clifford Hoffman, Lawrence Hoffman, Paul Hoffman Jr., Harvey Hoffman; and her sisters: Emila Newman and Annie Hoffman.
