Glenn Curtis Welton

Glenn Curtis Welton, died Friday, July 15, 2011 after a long battle with lung cancer. Glenn was born October 27, 1925 to the late Andrew D. and Freida R. (Reinke) Welton. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1942 and enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corp. He was involved in numerous engagements in the South Pacific and served his country honorably. Upon returning from World War II, he married Lorinda Hannemann.

He was employed as a salesman at Ripon Cookie Company, out of Milwaukee for twenty years and later as a Stock Broker, prior to his retirement in 1992. His hobbies included fishing, dinning out with family on a weekly basis at different restaurants and enjoying the Green Bay Packer football games on TV. Extended family members all knew him as "Uncle Glenn". Glenn had a remarkable God given ability to treat everyone with the utmost respect and with an overwhelming kindheartedness and helpfulness. He not only demonstrated these remarkable distinctive characteristics, but he lived them to the fullest in his daily life. Whenever a family member was in need of advice or help, he was there to guide and provide us with the best options to solve the circumstances. Glenn was blessed in many ways by his nephews and nieces and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be truly missed by all family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lorinda; a brother, Russell D.(Marlene) Welton, Sun Prairie; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl and a sister, Marian H. Anderson.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Rev. John Roseth will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
