Four Area Golfers Make the Cut at State Amateur Championship
MADISON (WAOW) - A quartet of central Wisconsin golfers have made the cut at the State Amateur Championship at Maple Bluff Country Club in Madison. Leading the way is Wausau East graduate and UW golfer Anthony Aicher. The 2009 WIAA state champion is tied for 12th place at +3. He held a share of the 18-hole lead but faltered in round two, carding a 7-over 78. Aicher is still just 4 strokes off the lead held by Ricky Hearden, the lone competitor under par (-1) after 36 holes.
Other area golfers to make the cut include: Michael Mortenson of Iola (+6), Marshfield's Brant Serchen (+7), who shot even par on Tuesday, and Antigo grad Kelly Kretz (+8), a college golfer at Marquette.
