Weston man rolls car, arrested on warrant, kicks out squad car window
WESTON (PRESS RELEASE) -- On Tuesday, July 20th at approximately 2:06am, the Everest Metro Police Department received a call of a vehicle rollover accident at Lester Street and Kersten Road in the Town of Weston.
Upon arrival, officers located Joel Porter, 27 years of age, of Weston at the accident scene with fresh injuries. Porter indicated his girlfriend was driving and rolled the vehicle and took off on foot.
Porter was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and was placed in the back of a squad car where he kicked out the rear squad window causing damage.
The girlfriend was located approximately one hour after the accident walking down the road a short distance from the accident scene and stated Porter was driving and that she left to get help for him as he was unconscious after the accident.
She was transported to the hospital by Weston Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries stemming from the accident. Porter was also transported to the hospital for treatment and later admitted to being the driver of the vehicle.
The investigation also confirmed that Porter was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Porter was charged with OWI (2nd offense) causing injury, operating a vehicle while revoked, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
