VILLAGE OF CURTISS (WAOW) -- A fire turned deadly early Wednesday morning in the Village of Curtiss in Clark County, leaving behind a devastated family.
"I think it's anyone's gut reaction, it's absolute dismay, I don't think you can wrap your mind around it," said relative of the victims, Dave Finnel.
Firefighters said the home was located on Meridian Street. Officials haven't yet released the names of the victims, but family members told Newsline 9 Melvin Lauersdorf escaped, but Sandy Lauersdorf and her daughter, Debbie, died.
"It takes a couple hours to realized what you've truly in deed lost," said Finnel.
Firefighters said they must now determine what went wrong.
"The cause of the fire is currently under investigation," said Mark Renderman with the Curitss Fire Department.
Family member, Dave Finnel, said he and his loved ones will push through this tragedy together.
"We're just going to group together, regroup together and soldier on. You can't dwell on this forever," said Finnel.
Investigators said it could be a while before the cause is determined.
