Area hospitals plan for outages

STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--Officials from St. Michael's Ministry Hospital in Stevens Point say they facility went almost eight hours before power was restored after recent storms.

Area hospital leaders say they always have a back-up plan for severe weather situations.

According to David Bliven, Facilities Director at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, the building always has at least 96 hours of backup power on hand.

He says once power is out, generators kick in within a matter of seconds.

A spokesperson from St. Michael's says the outage delayed some surgeries, but the facility is now back on schedule.
