GREEN BAY (WAOW) - The day after the NFL's owners sent a proposed new labor agreement to the players, some Packers players responded to the offer. Amongst those headlining Charles Woodson's charity golf outing on Friday were Woodson and teammates Nick Collins, Tramon Williams, and Mark Tauscher. The Auburndale native, Tauscher, was at the meeting for players reps on Wednesday in Washington, DC. Woodson participated in Thursday's player conference call.
"Come Thursday, the owners vote and there's some things in there we haven't seen," said Woodson. "You feel like, wait a minute, I thought we were all on the same page here. And I think all of the 1,900 players felt the same way. Everyone thought we were close to a deal. It turns out, it was just a ploy by the owners to put that out there to get the fans on their side, I guess."
Added Collins, "What I can go off of from all the players reps, they are trying to bamboozle us to sign a deal which we never agreed to and stuff like that."
Through it all, Williams remains optimistic that a deal will get done soon.
"I think it's going to get done," he said. "I don't know if it's going to be Monday, maybe it's somewhere down the line. We're going to make sure the deal is right."
