MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Nashville Sounds outfielder Brett Carroll has been called up by the Milwaukee Brewers after center fielder Carlos Gomez suffered a broken collarbone.
Carroll, a former third baseman at Middle Tennessee State University, was called up on Thursday after Gomez was injured on Wednesday night.
But this isn't his first time in the majors. Carroll first reached the major leagues when he was 24 and has played in 173 games for the Florida Marlins from 2007-2010.
Carroll told The Daily News Journal that he wanted to return to the major leagues, but the season has allowed him to work on areas to improve.
Carroll was hitting .281 with 15 home runs and 51 RBIs for the Sounds.
