FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A small plane with two people aboard has crashed in Lake Winnebago. The condition of the people aboard isn't immediately known.
A U.S. Coast Guard spokeswoman says her initial report says the plane went down Monday about 700 yards off shore.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Lauren Jorgensen says Coast Guard vessels were responding but have been called back, which generally means everyone aboard has been accounted for. She says she doesn't know whether the pair survived.
Fond du Lac County sheriff's Lt. Rick Olig says an emergency call about the plane came in about noon.
The crash coincides with the Experimental Aircraft Association's AirVenture, which began Monday in Oshkosh. The event draws more than 10,000 mostly small aircraft, which fly in and land at what becomes one of the world's busiest airports.
