MADISON (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has kept a relatively low profile in the recall elections targeting six Republican state senators.
But on Tuesday he sent an email personally asking Republican donors to back the campaigns and prevent the Democrats from winning a majority in the Senate.
Walker calls the Republican senators "brave" in the email, saying they "stood up to the public employee union bosses and did the right thing." The senators were targeted for recall because of their support for Walker's bill curbing public workers' collective bargaining rights.
Walker asks for money to help the senators pay for television and radio advertising and direct mail pieces.
The election for the six Republicans is Aug. 9. Two Democrats face recall elections a week later.
