Three NFL Lawsuits Considered Settled

The NFL and players have told judges overseeing three pending cases that the sides have settled, contingent on a new collective bargaining agreement being finished by Aug. 4.

On separate phone calls Tuesday morning, lawyers for the league and players spoke with U.S. District Judges Susan Richard Nelson and David Doty.

Nelson was told the antitrust suit filed by Tom Brady and nine other players will be dropped. Doty was told that the TV networks "lockout insurance" case and a separate collusion claim by players were resolved.

The leadership of the NFL Players Association voted unanimously Monday to agree to a deal that would settle those cases and end the 4 1/2-month lockout. Owners OK'd an agreement last week.
