Postal service considering closing thousands of offices

Your local post office may soon be shutting its doors for good.

The Postal Service announced today it is considering closing almost 3,700 offices. Most of them are in small communities across the country.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said the closings are necessary to shore up a 20 billion dollar budget gap.

As many as 4,500 employees may be let go.

Locally, several post offices have already been listed on the chopping block. Catawba, Lublin, Tilleda, Leopolis, and Big Falls could close as early as January.
