Wausau leads state in adding jobs in June

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The state releases new statistics for the job economy and in one category, Wausau comes out on top.

According to a statewide report, 700 new jobs were created in Wausau just last month. That's 200 more than second place Appleton.

The Department of Workforce Development shows many of the bigger cities around Wisconsin, like Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee, saw dips in their job numbers. The report looks at seasonally adjusted sums, to take a balanced look at the economy even with minor changes from month to month.

By analyzing recent job numbers, employment leaders said Wisconsin's economic strength seems to be improving. They said they've seen growth in a number of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, truck driving and tourism.

Another trend? Starting at an entry level job and working your way up the corporate ladder. They encourage anyone who's out of a job to work on picking up useful skills so you'll be more attractive to prospective employers.
