Mary Carter passed away peacefully Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisconsin where she had resided since October 2010.
Mary was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on March 10, 1920 to the late Tony and Adelia (Lemke) Fehl. She and Roy Carter were married at the Chapel in Fort Benning, Georgia in 1943. Mary and Roy were residents of Wausau and Lake Tomahawk. Roy preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by her son, Jim and his wife Diane of Hudson, her grandchildren, Matt Carter of Salt Lake City and Kirsten and her husband Ben Rubenzer of Hudson and their son John Rubenzer; she is also survived by her brother Gerald Fehl of Wausau and nieces Virginia and Georgianna.
Mary was a kind person who treasured her friends. She was always current on Wausau news and had fond memories of growing up on Fulton Street and on Bridge Street. She followed with great interest the redevelopment of the property of the historic family business. Mary was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Wausau.
Services are private at her request. Inurnment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
