DC Everest District leases Weston building for charter school

WESTON (WAOW)-- The D.C. Everest School District has leased a Weston building to house the IDEA Charter School.

The building at 4704 Camp Phillips Road was formerly a furniture and appliance co-op, but Wednesday night school board members approved a 40-month lease for the space.

The first year lease is $75,000 dollars, and goes up to $80,000 the second year.

Superintendent Kristine Gilmore says the district chose the site because its open space is idea for the school's new curriculum.

"This charter-based school was more interested in finding a more open concept.  Students will work independently but also with an advisor," Gillmore says. "This building does lend to that, it is in very good condition and not very old."

Classes start on September 1st.
