DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered the Minnesota National Guard to help search for a teen who was swept away while swimming in a rain-swollen river in Duluth.
According to a news release issued Saturday, the governor issued an emergency executive order to provide assistance in the search for 13-year-old Jefferson Bowen, of Duluth, who was went missing in the Lester River on Tuesday.
The Duluth News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/oExG08 ) St. Louis County Sheriff Ross Litman requested the state's help.
Divers have searched the swimming hole, Amity Creek and the Lester River since Tuesday without success.
Currents at the site were unusually strong on Tuesday after being fed by an overnight downpour of between 2 and 4 inches.
