(CNN)--The super committee tasked with cutting more than a trillion dollars from the federal budget is starting to come together.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced his appointees Tuesday.
He's choosing Senators Max Baucus of Montana, Patty Murray of Washington state and John Kerry of Massachusetts.
A dozen lawmakers will be on the committee.
They'll be evenly split between both parties and both houses of Congress.
The Republican Senate appointments, and all of the House appointments, have yet to be announced.
The committee is part of the debt ceiling deal.
