Plea in Wis. crash that killed 3 Minn. students

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- An Iraq veteran has pleaded no contest to charges that he drove drunk and caused a Wisconsin crash that killed three University of Minnesota students.

Thirty-two-year-old Bradley Erickson entered the plea Thursday to four felony charges, including three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

The crash occurred Oct. 7 in the town of Burke. The victims' car had pulled over with a flat tire. One passenger told investigators he survived by jumping over the median barrier when he saw Erickson's car speeding toward them.

The victims were 19-year-old Marcus Johnson of Milwaukee, 20-year-old Elysia Rapp of Racine and 23-year-old Wilfredo Ugarte of Puerto Rico.

A message left with Erickson's attorney Friday was not immediately returned.

A WISC-TV report says Erickson will be sentenced in October.
