ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) -- Marie Flynn Berner, the publisher of the Antigo Daily Journal for nearly half a century, has died at age 98.
Her son says she was active in the newspaper business until her death on Wednesday, including handling the payroll last week.
Berner became the newspaper's publisher in 1963 following the death of her husband, Artemas Berner.
She was named to the Wisconsin Newspaper Association's Newspaper Hall of Fame two years ago. She was also named the Distinguished Alumnus of Antigo High School in 2005.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. Visitation will be at the Bradley Funeral Home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
