REEDSBURG, Wis. (AP) -- A 24-year-old woman is facing homicide charges in Sauk County for allegedly killing a 4-month-old girl whom she was babysitting.
The Baraboo News Republic reports (http://bit.ly/pW1NWF) that Jeanette M. Janusiak of Reedsburg was charged Friday after telling investigators the infant was fine after she accidentally dropped her Thursday morning but later became unresponsive. But a doctor who examined the child said the severity of her injuries indicate she would have been unresponsive immediately.
The Sauk County District Attorney's office charged Janusiak Friday with first-degree intentional homicide. The identity of the infant has not been released.
Janusiak is being held in the Sauk County jail. A booking agent there said Saturday that she could not pass along a message requesting comment.
