Pipeline scheduled for removal in Kronenwetter

KRONENWETTER (WAOW)--A pipeline used successfully to lower the ground water level in parts of Kronenwetter is scheduled for removal next week. A spokesperson from the Village Board said Kronenwetter just doesn't have the budget to support it.

People packed the Kronenwetter Municipal building Monday night to discuss the pipeline and other issues. Some spoke out about the problems high water has caused-- damaging basements and homes. Others are frustrated with how long it's taking to make a final decision.

The village has proposed installing a sewer system in the areas affected by high ground water, but at the cost of area homeowners. However, not all homes in the same neighborhoods and even on the same streets have flooding problems, so many people are angry they may have to pay for a system that won't benefit them.

Village leaders said the pipeline has cost them over 36,000 dollars to pump water out of the area, at such a high expense, it's not going to be a permanent fix.

An action plan will be discussed at next month's board meeting to try and come up with a plan to alleviate the problem.
