CLEVELAND, OH (AP) - The Cleveland Browns have reached an agreement with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas on a seven-year contract extension.
Agent Peter Schaffer told The Associated Press on Monday night that the sides had been working on the deal for some time and that he was pleased that Thomas will have long-term security with the Browns. Schaffer would not provide financial terms of the deal.
The Browns said they had no announcement planned.
Thomas was entering the final year of the rookie contract he signed after being taken with the No. 3 overall selection in the 2007 draft.
Last week, Thomas said he was excited about the direction the Browns were headed under first-year coach Pat Shurmur.
Thomas has made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons and is regarded as one of the NFL's best left tackles.
