National Weather Service confirms tornado touch down in Clark County


CLARK COUNTY (WAOW)--The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado touched down in Clark County.

According to a report filed Wednesday, the EF2 twister touched down about 7 miles northwest of Chili in Clark County at 5:05 p.m. It then traveled 7.2 miles, ending around 5:30 p.m. 2 miles northeast of Chili.

Storm surveyors say the tornado was about 200 yards wide with winds between 120-130 miles per hour.

The storm blew roofs off houses, damaged barns, knocked down trees and power lines and even took one house off of its foundation. Two people suffered minor injuries.
