Travis Ploman found not guilty

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A jury has found Travis Ploman not guilty of homicide with use of a motor vehicle while under the influence.

The verdict came in late Wednesday night. Ploman was accused of driving drunk and killing his wife and daughter in a rollover crash in October 2009.

The defense and prosecutors spent Wednesday on closing arguments. Prosecutors argued Travis Ploman had no signs of a diabetic attack two minutes before the crash. The district attorney told the jury to follow the blood, and that would lead them to the truth.

The defense argued that the state did a poor job of preserving evidence, and that two missing audio tapes and other key pieces were missing. The defense also argued blood tests couldn't be conclusive, and that the lab where the blood was tested had failed previous proficiency tests.

The defense finished by saying Travis Ploman and his son, Jordan, have suffered enough.
