Joyce J. Schaar, 83, Wittenberg, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born July 27, 1928 in Wittenberg, the daughter of the late Melvin and Goldie (Bricco) Bessette. On November 3, 1951, Joyce was united in marriage to Theodore W. Schaar at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1982.

Joyce waitressed for many years at local restaurants including the former Gus & Anns, Coffee Cup and Maple Hills Golf Course. Joyce was a member of Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. She enjoyed spending time with people, listening to Patsy Cline, watching ‘I Love Lucy' and game shows. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and spending time at the lake house. Joyce loved her family and her dog, Prada.

Survivors include her daughter; Vicki Schaar, Wittenberg and her grandson; Theodore C. Schaar, Milwaukee, two sisters; Sharon Hegewald, Birnamwood and Lorraine Borchardt, Milwaukee, two brothers; Dale (Joyce) Bessette, Milwaukee and Dennis (Joan) Bessette, Clintonville, many nieces, nephews and friends and additional family connected through love; Kimmyra, Dylon & Lukas Lyons and Melissa & Brian DeBaker.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother; Harold ‘Pete' Bessette.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7pm, Friday, September 16, 2011 at Holy Family-St. William Catholic Church, Wittenberg. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4pm until the time of service at the church. Interment will be on Saturday, at 11 am, in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Wittenberg.
