Joyce E. Firkus, 76, of Stevens Point, died Friday evening, Sep. 23, 2011, at Harmony Living Center in Stevens Point.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1934, in Stevens Point, to the late John and Emily (Hintz) Feltz. On Sep. 12, 1953, she was married to Joe Firkus at St. Mary Catholic Church in Torun. Joe died on Sep. 21, 2000.
Joyce was a homemaker and member of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, doing puzzle books, playing cards and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include her brothers, Marvin (Jeanie) Feltz of Lake Tomahawk, and Larry (Mary) Feltz of Stevens Point; sisters, Ruth (Florian) Yenter of Hatley, Juanita (Don) Furmack of Oak Creek, and Jeanne (Ted) Fischer of Wind Lake; brothers-in-law, Walter Firkus of Stevens Point, and Leonard (Elaine) Firkus of Stevens Point; sisters-in-law, Helen (Bob) Kropidlowski of Colorado, and Evelyn (Andy) Smrz of Stevens Point. She is further survived by many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parent and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Feltz, and sister-in-law, Bernice Firkus.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 2nd St., Stevens Point, and again at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
