MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- Marathon County's 2012 budget will include significant changes for most employees, according to a budget proposal released by the county.
The Marathon County Board of Supervisors was scheduled to hear the budget proposal at 3:00 p.m. Monday.
According to the proposal, most county employees will contribute 5.8 percent of their wages to retirement. Currently, employees do not contribute anything to that account.
Also, most employees would pay a substantial increase in health insurance premiums (up to 12.6 percent from 5 percent), and the plan would be driven by higher deductibles.
County officials estimate those changes will save the county more than $3 million.
The proposal calls for no layoffs of county employees and no increase in the property tax rate.
