Leaves changing high atop Timm’s Hill

The combination of scenic lakes and panoramic vistas is a constant draw for visitors to Price County.

But with Northern Wisconsin's fall foliage season peaking, a unique feature in the landscape offers unparalleled views for those looking to see the changing seasons.

Timm's Hill County Park, W3206 County Road RR, Ogema, is home to the highest geographical point in Wisconsin.  The park boasts a 90-foot observation deck atop Timm's Hill, providing unobstructed views for miles.

Despite rising 1,951.5 feet above sea level, the slope is gentle.  That allows for easy hiking trail access and a great place to see the fall leaves change color according to Lyle Blomberg, curator of Timm's Hill County Park.

"Mainly these trees in through the park are hard maples…and then of course there's Balsom trees and some Hemlock" Blomberg told Newsline 9.

Lyle and his wife Kathy oversee the 220 acre park's upkeep.  They also own the neighboring Hill of Beans Coffee Shop, W3075 County Road RR, Ogema, along with a collection of cabins.  The area known as High Point Village Resort has beautiful views of the hill along the shore of Bass Lake.

"There's a lot of lakes here; there's probably ten to twelve lakes that are all spring fed,' Lyle said looking towards Bass Lake.  "There's no inlets to them except the snow and rain."

That means what you see is what you get.  An unpolluted, environmentally-protected area of land primed for those seeking fall foliage at its best.

Lyle and Kathy enjoy the autumn views as much as their business.  What today is their restaurant was retrofitted from the home they built together in the shadow of Timm's Hill along Bass Lake.

"It's because it's my home it's a bit different.  It's a dream come true.  I love people, and I'm thankful people are coming" Kathy Blomberg said.

Timm's Hill County Park is free and open through October from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm.  Lyle and Kathy's Hill of Beans Coffee Shop is open Tuesday through Sunday 8 am to 3 pm year round.
