MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -- A Marathon County man pleaded not guilty to charges of counterfeiting $20 bills.
According to the criminal complaint, police said Shawn Donovan used the fake money to buy things at yard sales during Memorial Day weekend this year. Donovan's attorney said the prosecution is relying on the testimony of an admitted drug user, who continues to change her story.
Donovan is already serving time at the Dodge Correctional Facility after pleading guilty to battery while he was in prison.
Three others have been charged in connection with this case -- Christina Abbott., Clint Bostwick and Bonnie Cleveland. Each of them faces court appearances later this year for felony charges.
