$50k cash bond set for man accused of 4th OWI

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A Marathon County judge has set a $50,000 cash bond for a Wausau man charged with drunken driving for the fourth time.

Joshua Diaz, 30, appeared in court Tuesday, less than 24 hours after he was released from jail on separate charges.

According to a police report, Diaz refused to stop for an officer just after midnight Tuesday morning. Police say he eventually left his car near DeKalb and North 3rd Street in Wausau and tried to hop a fence. Police say he then charged the officer. After a brief scuffle, Diaz was arrested, according to the police report.

Diaz had appeared in Marathon County Circuit Court the day before on felony charges of possessing a firearm. He was released around 5:00 p.m. Monday and arrested for drunken driving just seven hours later, according to prosecutors.

In addition to the OWI charge, Diaz faces charges of bail jumping, fleeing an officer, and resisting an officer. He is scheduled to appear in court October 26 at 10:30 a.m.
