Strong sales of business productivity and server software are credited for the increase.
Sales for the quarter ending September 30-th were 17-point-four-billion-dollars, slightly ahead of analyst expectations.
Microsoft's net income for the quarter was five-point-seven-billion-dollars which was in line with forecasts.
