UW Hockey Team Topples 5th-Ranked NoDak

MADISON (AP) -- Justin Schultz and Mark Zengerle had a goal and an assist each to help Wisconsin beat North Dakota 5-3 on Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

The Badgers scored three times in the second period to chase starting North Dakota goalie Brad Eidsness.

Tyler Barnes added two assists for the Badgers (2-3-0, 1-2-0), who came back strong after dropping two WCHA games to Michigan Tech last weekend.

The Badgers took their biggest lead at 4-1 on Derek Lee's goal at 6:06 of the second period.

But the Fighting Sioux (2-2-1, 0-1-0) came right back, getting a goal from Nick Mattson 23 seconds later and from Carter Rowney at 9:33 to make it a one-goal game.

Brendan Woods provided an insurance goal at 12:52 of the third period.

Landon Peterson had 24 saves for the Badgers.
