Concealed carry classes continue

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The state's new concealed carry law goes into effect next week. Training classes have been filling up across our area but there may be new opportunities in the future.

Northcentral Technical College leaders said their classes have been filling up fast at their sessions in Medford, Antigo and Wausau. The four-hour session in Wausau continues through the end of the month and into November, when the concealed carry law takes effect.

"We want them to understand that there's more beyond that moment in time," said NTC Public Safety Dean Bryce Kolpack. "There's many other things that might happen in the future based on that decision and we want them to be well aware of that."

Along with the four-hour training session, people can also go through a one-hour simulator class. School leaders said some students have said they want to get even more training. NTC leaders said they may offer advanced classes in the future and already plan to add more basic classes through the end of the year.
