Ramada Stevens Point to close, 104 jobs lost

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- Ramada Stevens Point general manager Tim Mueller says the hotel and restaurant will close permanently this Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

In a statement, Mueller wrote that "After a great deal of effort and weight of economic conditions, a decisions has been made to close the Ramada Stevens Point property as of October 30th, 2011." He wrote further, "The decision to close the property was not made easily and follows many months of operational adjustments and ongoing funding to maintain operations in hopes of some market recovery. Given the state of the economy, it is not economically viable to continue with hotel operations."

Mueller tells Newsline 9 that 104 employees will lose their jobs at the hotel and adjacent restaurant, The Tilted Kilt.

Newsline 9 has a crew in Stevens Point and will have more information as it becomes available.
